‘Lilo & Stitch’ Star Sydney Agudong Cast In Hawai’i’-Set ‘The Tourist Curse’ With Henry Ian Cusick, Mahina Napoleon, Tori Anderson & More

EXCLUSIVE: Sydney Agudong (Lilo & Stitch), Henry Ian Cusick (Lost), Mahina Napoleon (The Walking Dead: Dead City), and Tori Anderson (NCIS: Hawai’i) are among leading cast in Hawai’i-set adventure comedy The Tourist Curse.

Also starring are Ta’imua, Kimee Balmilero, Jason Antoon, Mele’iwa Silva, Dionysio Basco, Rebecca Creskoff, Seana Kofoed, Celia Kenney, and Stephen Hill.

Alexander Bocchieri (Go For Broke) has signed on to direct the misadventure-comedy with a creature feature twist. Filming is due to begin this month.

Set against the backdrop of an unnamed Hawaiian island, the PG-13-aimed movie is about a group of game show contestants sent to a mysterious location and tasked with finding a missing artifact, who inadvertently awaken the local creature, turning their tropical treasure hunt into a cross island fight for survival.”

Written and produced by Seana Kofoed (ClearMind), the film is also produced by Gerard Elmore, VP of Film at NMG Network, and Henry Joe Productions’ Annie Cusick Wood (Salvador). Casting is led by Hoffman Bernstein Casting.

Linda Nichols will executive-produce alongside Robert Nichols and Michael Glassner, and in partnership with O’ahu’s Kualoa Ranch.

Garret Dillahunt, Michelle Hurd and Henry Ian Cusick Team for Psychedelic Amazon Thriller ‘Bloodwood,’ Essential Launching in Cannes (EXCLUSIVE)

Garret Dillahunt (“No Country for Old Men”), Michelle Hurd (“Star Trek: Picard”) and Henry Ian Cusick (“Lost”) are set to lead upcoming psychological thriller “Bloodwood.”

The film marks the feature directorial debut of Robert Menzies, who also wrote the original screenplay based on his novel. Essential Film Group is handling worldwide sales.

“Bloodwood” follows Jake (Dillahunt), a man running from his past who journeys deep into the Amazon to hunt Vargas (Cusick), a trafficker responsible for the death of his wife. What begins as a calculated mission becomes a spiraling odyssey upriver alongside Ryan (Hurd), a guarded wildlife veterinarian with a past of her own. As the jungle fractures memory, time, and perception, Jake is pulled into a hallucinatory confrontation with the choices that led him here — and the woman he left behind.

Rounding out the cast are Johnny Sanchez, Hada Vanessa Hutchinson, and Joseph Jaquinto.

“Bloodwood” is supported by the Ayahuasca Foundation and Camino Verde, and was developed with guidance informed by Shipibo traditions of the Amazon rainforest, with an emphasis on cultural respect and authenticity.

Menzies previously produced the directorial debuts of Osgood Perkins (“Longlegs”) with The Blackcoat’s Daughter and Jon Watts (“Spider-Man: Homecoming”) with Clown.

“I’m excited to make my own directorial debut with ‘Bloodwood,’” said Menzies. “As I wrote it, I envisioned a modern ‘Heart of Darkness’ — a descent driven by a propulsive revenge story but ultimately rooted in spiritual reckoning. It asks a question older than sin: when a man goes into the wilderness hunting a monster, which one is supposed to come back?”

“Bloodwood” is produced by Menzies (“Fatman,” “House at the End of the Street”), Anjul Nigam (“Crown Vic,” “Growing Up Smith”), Jordan Gianneschi and Jacob Rice for their J2 Productions, Carmelo Chimera (“Unarmed”) in association with Act One Media, and Lisanne Marks Canty (“Maserati: The Brothers”) from Harrington Legacy Media. Executive producers include James Norrie, Syed Ali Saeed, Sanchez, Brian Landever, and Jaquinto.

The Fantasia International Film Festival has announced a stacked second wave of titles for it’s 30th edition, further cementing this years lineup as one of the summer’s most exciting genre-film events.

Dark genre selections recently announced for the festival which runs July 16 – August 2nd in Montreal, Canada includes “Los Vampires”.

In 1930 Hollywood, a Spanish actor (Henry Ian Cusick, Lost, MacGyver) is cast in the night shoot of a soon-to-be-legendary vampire film, forced to imitate the English-speaking star (Thomas Kretschmann, The Pianist, Spectre) who performs the same role by day. The two actors regularly meet at the transitory hours of their shoots, and a rivalry stirs between them. All the while, a string of murders are occurring on and around the soundstage. With names respectfully altered, Craig Mitchell’s Los Vampires is a fantastical fictionalized account of the making of George Melford’s Spanish Dracula (1931), the arguably superior version of the Universal Horror classic which had been shot overnight on the same sets Tod Browning’s landmark picture used during the day.
